Region 7: 

The Region 9 Historian’s meeting will be Saturday, May 10 at the Delphi Falls County Park (2006 Cardner Road, Cazenovia). The event will be from 9 am to 1 pm. If you’ve never been to this site it features a beautiful two-tier waterfall as well as trails throughout the park. We will be having our the meeting at the newly built conference center.

 

This year’s speakers will be:

 

Derrick Pratt of the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse and possibly one more organization who will talk about the upcoming Erie Canal Bicentennial and what is happening locally and across the state

 

Kristin De Lucia, Associate Professor of Anthropology at Colgate University, she will talk about a project she has done for a few years which takes students out of the classroom and to a former mill site to learn about the families that lived there.

 

Dorothy Willsey (from the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum & The Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark) & Mary Liz Stewart (Of the Underground Railroad History Project and the Stephen and Harriet Myers Residence of Albany) from the Underground Railroad Consortium of New York State will speak on the 2027 bicentennial of the Abolition of Slavery in New York State and how we can get involved.

Regional Spring Conferences

Region 2 meeting: regional meeting is scheduled for Saturday April 5th at 10 am

APHNYS Region 3 meeting is March 22nd.  RSVP if you have not already:

Region 3 will meet on Saturday, March 22nd at 11 AM.  It is being hosted by Town of Woodbury Historian Alex Prizgintas at the Community Center “At the Rez”, Coach Wilson Trail, Highland Mills, NY, adjacent to Earl Reservoir.  We shifted to a Saturday this year so that those who are working during the week may be able to attend.

This is our yearly time to get together and share news among the municipal historians of our five counties.

Business meeting 11-12:00: Discussion of agenda items, including 2025 Conference Theme, 250th plans, etc. (send your agenda items for the group discussion) and a “show and tell.”  Bring a lesson, activity, program, talk, resource, or other project you’ve worked on that you are especially happy with to share and brag about, or photos of it.

The meeting will be followed by (bring your own) lunch to informally share, celebrate, commiserate, gripe, network, and catch up.

Region 4 meeting - June 14 at the Woodstock Community Center in Woodstock. We're working out the time. The meeting will conclude with a tour of Byrdcliffe, a historic arts and cultural center. 

Region 6b meeting-April 26th at the Historic Sherman Inn. Meeting, lunch and tour of the inn followed by a tour of the Ogdensburg History Museum.

Region 11 meeting is scheduled for May 17 in Penn Yan.
